Linda Marie Pitt Meyer
December 23, 1947 - August 31, 2022

Linda Marie Pitt Meyer, 74, peacefully passed away after a long battle with cancer on August 31, 2022 in her home.
She was born on December 23, 1947 in North Muskegon, Michigan but spent most her her childhood in Massachusetts. She attended American Willard Elementary School followed by boarding school at Howard School for Girls in West Bridgewater, MA.
She met husband, Charles (Chic) Meyer, at Stetson University in Deland, FL where she joined Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Linda and Chic married in 1970 in Harwichport, MA. Working for SunTrust Bank, they lived in Columbus and Carrollton, GA then to Knoxville, TN and then to Savannah, GA in 2004.
In the early years of their marriage, Linda taught elementary school until her children Robin (Meyer) Houpe and Charles (Chip) Meyer III were born. In Columbus, Linda was very active in the Jaycees and the Christian Women’s Club. In Knoxville, she continued her love of education teaching at Ebenezer Baptist Church and providing substitute teaching at Knox County Schools. They moved to Savannah, GA in 2004 where they both retired.
Here in Savannah, Linda volunteered for a number of years as a teachers aide at Broad Street Elementary School. She also served as a docent at the Alida Harper Fowlkes House and Davenport House Museums. She was an active member of the Savannah Newcomers Club and the Telfair Art Guild. She was also very active in the Geechee Sailing Club as well as the Savannah Yacht Club. She was a longtime member of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter, grandchildren Avigail and Aaron Houpe, of Ogden, UT and by her sisters Carolyn Aaron and Joellen McCoy in Sarasota, FL, as well as by nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at 3pm at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406 on Wednesday, Sept 7, 2022.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in her memory to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, The Davenport House Museum, and the American Cancer Society.
Robin and Chip. We are so saddened by your mom’s passing. She was a very dear friend and I will always remember her kindness and her concern for others. She brightened the lives of so many who knew her with her smile and her genuine friendship. We will keep her and her family in our thoughts and prayers. Curtis and Donna Foltz
